Gary McAllister is remaining with Liverpool in an ambassadorial role after losing his job as first team coach, the Merseyside giants have announced.

Liverpool are clearing the decks of coaching staff in anticipation of Jurgen Klopp's arrival as manager at Anfield.




The German is bringing his own men to the club after agreeing a three-year contract to take over.

Assistant manager Sean O'Driscoll has also left his role at the club, while fellow first team backroom members Glen Driscoll and Chris Davies have departed Anfield too.
 


Former Leeds United player and manager McAllister has agreed to stay at Anfield, but will not be involved with the first team.

Instead McAllister, who played for Liverpool, has taken up an ambassadorial role which will see him remain connected with the Reds.

Liverpool have called a press conference for tomorrow, which they are expected to use to present Klopp as their new manager.
