Tottenham Hotspur legend Ledley King has heaped praise on club starlet Harry Kane and has equated him with former England internationals Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham.

Kane enjoyed a spectacular breakthrough campaign with the Lilywhites last term as he netted 31 goals across all competitions to keep his side in the hunt for a spot in the top four, although the north Londoners ended up in fifth.

The youngster also earned a spot in Roy Hodgson’s England national team and went on to score on his debut for the Three Lions in a clash against Lithuania at Wembley earlier this year.

And King, who plied his trade at White Hart Lane from 1999 until his retirement from the game in 2012, has lauded Kane for his attributes, saying he is in the same mould as Newcastle legend Shearer and former Manchester United striker Sheringham.

"Harry's record for England is great and I’ve always said he's a goalscorer, he fits into that Shearer mould, that Sheringham mould, he’s a bit of both really”, the former defender, who went on to earn 21 caps for the England national team, was quoted as saying by his club’s site.

"He’s also a player who no matter what the occasion, you can see him scoring goals.

"Nothing seems to faze him.

"His main objective is to keep playing football, to stay fit at club level and if does that, the goals will come and he’ll have a great opportunity to make the starting line-up in the Euros.

"There are some other top players in there as well like Rooney and Sturridge but Harry is a true goalscorer and if he stays fit, I’m sure he’ll be right in there."
