Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has waved away any thoughts of Jurgen Klopp raiding his old club by claiming the new Liverpool manager would do nothing to harm BVB.

Klopp has taken charge at Anfield and is expected to seek to shape the squad to his liking when the winter transfer window swings open in the new year.

Dortmund may be vulnerable to big-money bids from Liverpool and it has been claimed talents such as Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan could be on Klopp's radar.

But Watzke does not believe Klopp would do anything which could harm his old club, assuring Dortmund fans they need not worry.

The Dortmund CEO was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato: "Jurgen would never do anything which would harm the interests of BVB – I am 100 per cent sure of this.

"He would never get in touch with players behind our back."

Watzke also offered Klopp his blessing and believes the German will do well in the Premier League with Liverpool.

"I'm happy he's landed at Liverpool. I am convinced he will be as successful as he was at Dortmund."

Klopp's first match as Liverpool manager comes on Saturday when he takes his side to London to lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur, a side who finished above the Reds in the Premier League last season.

The German has penned a three-year contract at Anfield and succeeds Brendan Rodgers in the hot seat.
