Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has urged his Scotland team-mates to make sure they finish their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign on a high note, even though they cannot make it to the finals in France next year.

A 2-2 home draw with Poland on Thursday ended Scotland's chances of reaching Euro 2016, leaving a sense of bitter disappointment within the camp, only amplified by the fact that next summer's tournament has been expanded in terms of numbers of teams.

Scotland now finish their campaign by taking in minnows Gibraltar later today and Brown is keen for his side to at least sign off on their qualifying period in style.

"I have had a lot of downs in my career and it is how you bounce back – and you have to bounce back stronger for the next campaign", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"We need to finish on a high", the Celtic captain added.

Scotland will then quickly look ahead to qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, for which they have been put in a group with England, Slovakia, Slovenia, Lithuania and Malta.

In contrast to Scotland, both Wales and Northern Ireland have qualified for Euro 2016.
