CSKA Moscow are interested in signing Liverpool linked winger Denis Cheryshev during the winter transfer window.

The Russia winger has been on Real Madrid’s books since 2006 but has only made three substitute appearances for the senior team during his time at the Bernabeu.

There were rumours that he was on his way out of the club in the summer, with Liverpool believed to be interested but Rafael Benitez decided against selling him, much to the disappointment of the player.

Cheryshev wants to be in the Russia squad for next summer’s European Championship and is desperate to play first team football, something he is not expected to get at the Bernabeu this season.

According to Russian daily Izvestia, CSKA Moscow could provide a lifeline to the 24-year-old in January, as the club are keen to prise him away from Real Madrid during the winter window.

Cheryshev is also keen to leave Real Madrid to provide a fresh start to his career and might favour a move back to his homeland with CSKA.

While the Russian giants are interested, it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid agree to sell or even loan the player out in the middle of the season.

If the Spanish giants decide to sell the player, Liverpool could look to renew their interest in the Russian and CSKA could also face stiff competition from clubs in Spain for his signature.
