Thomas Muller is confident that scoring 100 league goals this season is a realistic target for Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians scored 101 goals in their title winning 1971/72 campaign and with 28 goals already in their bag from the first eight games, many feel the German champions are on their way to scoring a century of goals or more in the league this term.

Bayern Munich have been dominating German football over the last few years and this season has not been any different. They have won all their eight league games and are the favourites to retain their title again.

Muller admits that scoring a century of goals is a realistic target for the current Bayern Munich team and while they are not intending to bag a flurry of goals each game, their style of football is leading to high scoring games.

The Germany striker stressed that the Bavarians are not looking to sit back and defend leads, but are intending to bag more and dominate opposition teams.

“It is theoretically possible that we can score more than 100 goals with this team”, Muller told German magazine Sport Bild.

“We are not allowing it to define us, but we are not intentionally scoring a lot of goals this season.

“It is one of our strengths that we are not going to change both at Bayern and the national team; we do not sit back and defend after scoring one or two.

“We prefer to go for the third or fourth.”

Bayern Munich will take an away trip to Werder Bremen on Saturday and are favourites to beat the home side, who are currently 14th in the Bundesliga table.
