Sporting Lisbon defender Paulo Oliveira feels that being linked with Manchester United means he is doing all the right things on the pitch.

Jorge Jesus’ side are second in the league table but are equal on points with leaders FC Porto on 17 points and defender Oliveira has played a key role to their good start to the season.

He has been a rock at the back for Sporting Lisbon this term and his performances have invariably led to links with the big wigs of European football.

There are rumours Louis van Gaal is planning to prise him away from Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window to shore up his Manchester United backline and the 23-year-old is flattered by their interest.

While he admits that he is unsure about the veracity of the speculation, he is happy that a club such as Manchester United are interested in him as it means he is on the right path in his career.
