Veteran Rangers striker Kenny Miller insists that the Scottish Championship is a tough and testing league and points to St Mirren's struggles to back up his point.

St Mirren were relegated from the Scottish Premiership last season and have found adjusting to life in the second tier to be tough; they currently sit seventh in the standings, having collected ten points from ten games.

Rangers meanwhile have been on fire and sit top of the pile with ten wins from ten games.

But Miller insists that Rangers' perfect record has been hard earned and the striker has defended the quality of Scotland's second tier.

"It is a tough league, it’s not easy, we found that out last year and yes it is the second tier but there are some good teams and players in it", he said via his club's site.

"In that respect sometimes when you come down you can get a bit of a shock so I’m not surprised by how St Mirren have done."

Rangers are due to take on St Mirren tomorrow and Miller is confident that the Saints will improve as the season goes on, though he hopes their struggles continue on Sunday.

"Of course I expect them to improve, but hopefully that won’t start on Sunday and we will continue our form on."

Rangers sit five points clear of Hibernian at the top of the Championship, but can extend their advantage to eight points with a win tomorrow.
