Former Manchester United and Middlesbrough defender Gary Pallister has showered words of praise on the Boro away support ahead of their League Cup clash at Old Trafford tomorrow.

Having risen through the ranks at his boyhood club Middlesbrough, Pallister enjoyed a stellar time at Old Trafford and returned to Boro for a second spell towards the end of his career.

The former defender is excited about the clash between the Red Devils and Boro tomorrow at Old Trafford and is especially happy for the away support that will travel to the north west.

While the Riverside Stadium is not always filled to its capacity, the club are proud of their away support and Pallister wants the fans to enjoy their rare visit to Old Trafford tomorrow.

“Boro have always had great away support”, Pallister told the club’s official website.

“In both of my spells at the club you could always guarantee that and talk about how great our away support is.

“It’s difficult at home sometimes when the stadium is half-full, but you could always guarantee that passion and the fans turning up in numbers away from home so it’s absolutely fantastic.

“It’s a big game playing at Old Trafford and the supporters don’t often get the chance to go to these places when we’re languishing in the Championship.”

Close to 10,000 Boro fans are expected to travel to Old Trafford tomorrow, the second highest away attendance ever recorded at the iconic stadium.

Middlesbrough are fourth in the Championship table and will be hoping to cause a shock against their more fancied opponents tomorrow, to the delight of their away support.
