Manchester United are ready to rekindle their interest in Lazio attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson in the winter transfer window, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

Louis van Gaal's Red Devils were linked with the 22-year-old Brazilian over the summer transfer window, with claims from Italy that the English side even tried and failed with a bid for Anderson.

Now the midfielder appears to be back in fashion at Old Trafford as Van Gaal ponders who to add to his squad when the window swings back open.

The transfer window opens again in around two months' time, meaning clubs are already eyeing potential targets.

Lazio will not be keen to lose Anderson though, rating the Brazilian attacking midfielder as one of their finest performers.

He has featured on 15 occasions in all competitions for Lazio this term, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

The Rome side are in a good position to resist his departure as Anderson is locked down on a contract at the club until the summer of 2020.

He won his first cap for Brazil earlier this year.
