Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has pointed to the statistics recorded from his team during their 2-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers last week to stress that statistics are not always to be trusted.

Evans watched his men produce a wretched performance at Elland Road against Rovers, who were 2-0 up within six minutes and then successfully closed out the game as Leeds failed to put them under pressure.

The performance was vastly different to that in Evans' first game as Leeds boss, which was an impressive 1-1 draw at Fulham.

And an astonished Evans revealed that having reviewed the statistics from his side's defeat to Blackburn, he found they are better than those recorded at Craven Cottage.

Speaking to LUTV, Evans said: "Statistics are a wonderful thing aren't they? Because if you looked at the statistics [against Blackburn] in isolation, they are better than Fulham.

"That's horrific to show how stats can be misleading because we weren't very good", he added.

Evans will be looking for his side to produce a Fulham level performance when Cardiff City visit Elland Road tomorrow evening.

The former Rotherham United boss is still waiting for his first win as Leeds boss having presided over draws with Fulham, Bolton Wanderers and a defeat to Blackburn.
