Scott Brown admits he would be willing to retire from international duty if it meant extending his club career with Celtic.

The Celtic skipper is set to win his 50th cap for Scotland in the country's next international fixture, but has the pain of having missed out on qualifying for Euro 2016 to contend with.

Brown is now looking ahead to Scotland's campaign to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, but admits if international football becomes too much then he would look at calling it a day to prolong his club career.

"If it's getting too much for my body then yes [I’d retire from internationals]", he told a press conference.

"But for now I feel as fit as I've ever been and I'm enjoying my football, my international duties as well and I enjoy playing for Celtic as it is", the 30-year-old continued.

"So as long as that keeps going and everything is still feeling as good as it should be then I'll continue playing as long as I can."

Brown made his Scotland debut in 2005 and has now been plying his trade for his country for a decade.

While he has experienced disappointment on the international scene, at club level the midfielder has enjoyed much success with Celtic, where he is now club captain.

Indeed, so far Brown has collected five Scottish league titles, two Scottish Cups and two Scottish League Cups with the Bhoys.
