Espanyol are not in talks with Victor Valdes about snapping up the goalkeeper from Manchester United in the winter transfer window.

It has been claimed by online outlets that Espanyol are in advanced talks to sign the former Barcelona custodian, who is looking for an escape route at Old Trafford.

But according to Catalan daily Sport, Espanyol have firmly denied being in talks to sign Valdes.

The Spanish goalkeeper is currently living a nightmare at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal and is widely expected to quit Manchester United in the winter transfer window.

He came close to joining Turkish outfit Besiktas in the summer transfer window, but the move collapsed at the last minute and the goalkeeper was left at Manchester United.
