Rangers striker Kenny Miller has warned rivals Celtic that the Gers are not looking to win promotion to the Scottish Premiership simply to be a top-six team, but are intending to take the title off the Bhoys.

The veteran hitman extended his contract at Rangers by a further year earlier this week and Miller hopes that means he will be celebrating with the title in the summer of 2017, when it ends.

Miller told a press conference: "That's the goal [winning the Premiership title back]. That's what we want to do.

"We want to make sure we win the league this year, get back to the top flight and ultimately we need to win that league back."

The striker continued: "That's what the fans expect. That's what us as players are demanding from each other.

"We're not going up there to just challenge or be a top-six team. We need to be challenging for that league."

Miller, 35, has hit the back of the net five times in 13 appearances for the Gers so far this season, helping Mark Warburton's men sit top of the Scottish Championship table.

The striker, who turns 36 years old in December, says he has no plans to hang up his boots and could continue for a further two or three years.

"I've no plans for the foreseeable future of hanging them up at all.

"Sure you pick up little injuries, but that always happens as a footballer, no matter what age you are. You just need to steer clear of serious injuries."

Rangers last won the Scottish title in the 2010/11 season.
