Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has underlined the importance of his side bagging the full points against Liverpool today, in their bid to stay atop the Premier League standings.

The Citizens, who are top of the table, owing to their better goal difference to Arsenal, dropped two vital points in their last game before the international break, a goalless draw against bottom-placed Aston Villa.

The Gunners will move to the top if they better Manchester City’s result today, with Arsene Wenger’s men facing West Bromwich Albion in an away fixture.

As a result, Hart, who wants his side to move clear and cement their spot at the top of the table, wants to come out victorious against the Reds at the Etihad Stadium.

“We’re in a good place. We know what we’re doing and we work well together – long may it continue”, he told the club’s official site.

“Everyone knows our capabilities. We’ve proven it many times but three points are most important in order to stay top of the league.

“We have to try and build as big a gap between us and others as possible.”

After today’s encounter with Liverpool, Manchester City, who have 26 points from 12 games, will next face Juventus in a Champions League fixture in Italy on Wednesday.
