Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong has expressed his disappointment at seeing his side knocked out of the Europa League, but he believes that it will certainly be a learning curve for him.

The Bhoys were knocked out from the group stage of the competition after failing to win any of their five matches in Group A. They have one game remaining, against Fenerbahce.

For the 23-year-old, the abrupt end to his European campaign is disappointing.

The youngster is particularly disappointed at not having managed to win two of their matches, one against Ajax away and one at home against Fenerbahce, which he believes resulted in their downfall.

The former Scotland Under-21 international though echoes his team-mate Callum McGregor's emotions in believing that the Europa League has been a learning curve for his team and now they can look forward towards channelling their experience into their domestic campaign.

Speaking about the feeling of being knocked out, Armstrong told his club's official website: "My emotion is one of disappointment.

"It was a young team with a young midfield and to get nothing out of it was really disappointing. It’s just so frustrating and it sums up our European campaign.

“When you think back to the Ajax game away and Fenerbahce at home and last night, we have been so close to all three points.

"Fine lines and small details have been the difference – scoring the goals when it matters. Unfortunately, the luck hasn’t been with us.

“Callum McGregor has said it’s a learning curve and it is. This is my first European campaign and I have certainly learnt a lot from what it takes to progress in Europe.

"All we can do now is focus on domestic matters and look forward to next season when we will get another chance."
