Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela has refused to rule out a return to his former club Roma at some point in his career, but claims there is no substantial interest in his services from any side at present.

The Argentine, who came on a second half substitute in Spurs' goalless draw against Chelsea yesterday, joined the north London outfit from the Italian giants in 2013.

After struggling in his first season in England, Lamela has slowly managed to find his feet at White Hart Lane and has roused the interest of several sides, coming close to joining Marseille in the summer.

However, the 23-year-old, who played down rumours linking him with moves away from Tottenham, insisted that he is happy at the club.

But Lamela was quick to add that he may leave Spurs in the future, possibly to return to former club Roma.

"I don't think there has been interest and I've only thought about Tottenham, who make me feel important”, he was quoted as saying by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

“For the moment a transfer is difficult for me, but perhaps in the future, why not. Even to Roma."

Lamela, whose present deal with Tottenham runs until 2018, has thus far clocked up 79 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League outfit, scoring 10 times.

He spent two seasons at Roma between 2011 and 2013 before joining the north London club.
