Manchester United sent chief scout Peter Braund to watch Borja Valero and Breel Embolo in action during the Europa League clash between FC Basel and Fiorentina on Thursday, according to Swiss daily Blick.

Fiorentina midfielder Valero, who has experience of playing in England with a stint at West Bromwich Albion between 2008 and 2011, joined the Italians from Villarreal in 2012.

The 30-year-old Spaniard has scored once in 15 appearances in the present campaign, and is under contract with Fiorentina until 2019. He has been impressive for a La Viola side sitting third in Serie A this season.

On the other hand, Basel forward Embolo is a young prospect, who has progressed through the Swiss club’s youth ranks.

The 18-year-old has been in great form this season, scoring eight goals in 21 matches for the Swiss Super League leaders.
