Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp believes Chelsea striker Diego Costa can’t be changed after the Spaniard’s behaviour in Sunday's clash against Spurs received flak.

The Brazil-born Spanish international has endured a horrid start to the new season scoring just four goals in 17 appearances.

Costa led Chelsea’s title charge last season, however, with the Blues struggling to hit any sort of form, the striker has looked a shadow of his former self and was dropped by Mourinho for yesterday’s 0-0 draw against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Redknapp has labelled Costa’s actions childish and believes the 27-year-old will again behave in the same way, whenever he is benched.

Speaking on BT Sport, Redknapp said: “You won’t change him off the pitch. Suddenly you’re walking up to him on Monday and say ‘Diego, it’s a team game son, we’re all in this together’.

“You aren’t going to make any difference with him, the next time you leave him out he’ll be exactly the same when he’s sitting on the bench – he’s one of those fellas.

“That’s how he is.

“I’ve had it with players, leaving them out and suddenly they want to go home.

“It’s a nightmare, it’s like dealing with a little baby.”

In the 92nd minute of the clash, an infuriated Costa threw his training bib in the air, presumably aiming towards Mourinho.

But, the bib missed Mourinho by a couple of inches and he joked in his post-match press conference that if Costa indeed wanted to hurt him, he would not do it with a training bib.
