Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels feels he has been unfairly criticised in recent days for his performances this season.

The defender has come in for criticism for few of his performances this season and there has been speculation that the relationship between him and Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel has not been at its best.

While the club have batted away rumours of Hummels’ future at the Westfalenstadion, there is speculation that the World Cup winner is inching closer towards the exit door at Dortmund.

And the recent criticism of his performances could play a major role in him leaving Germany next summer.

Hummels tackled his recent criticism and feels since there is very little to say about Bayern Munich, people are running after negative stories on Dortmund and their big players.

The Germany defender told Kicker: “Perhaps it is currently difficult to find something negative about Bayern, so they are going against the second biggest team in the country and their players.

“Inevitably, you end up with Borussia Dortmund and the likes of Marco Reus, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or me.”

Hummels has a contract until 2017 with the club and Dortmund could be ready to sell him next summer if he refuses to sign a new deal.

Manchester United have continued to be linked with the player and may be keeping their eyes peeled on developments at the Westfalenstadion.
