Real Madrid legend and current FC Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas has expressed his desire to move the MLS once his time in Portugal is over.

The 34-year-old was unceremoniously shipped out from the Santiago Bernabeu to make space for the arrival of Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea, however, the transfer of the Spaniard didn’t go through due to paperwork issues.

The Spanish national team captain indicated that he has heard positive reviews from former team-mates, who plied their trade in the United States.

Casillas responded to a user in a live Question and Answer session on Facebook, saying: “The game has grown a lot over there and that’s brilliant to see … Would I play there? Why not?”

The Real Madrid youth product insisted that he is happy with life at the Estadio do Dragao and aims to honour his contract, which runs until 2018.

“I’ve signed for three seasons here and I intend to complete my contract here. Porto is a new challenge for me and I hope I can live up to the expectations at this great club.”

Casillas was at fault for conceding a goal against Dynamo Kyiv in last week’s 2-0 defeat in the Champions League.

When quizzed about his mistake, the World Cup winner urged his fans to focus on the positives rather than the negatives.

“People make the mistake of focusing too much on the negative, on the mistakes, but if you focus on yourself in a positive way and look at the things you’ve done well, they outshine the negatives.”

The Portuguese powerhouses are second in Group G of the Champions League and face leaders Chelsea on the final matchday.
