Leeds United academy chief Paul Hart is keen for his Under-21 side to knock Liverpool out of the Under-21 Premier League Cup.

Leeds' reward for beating Sheffield United at Bramall Lane is a home tie against the Premier League heavyweights and Hart is relishing the opportunity for his men to knock the Reds out.

He told LUTV: "It is a great opportunity to go and take a big scalp.

"We're looking forward to that."

Hart admits that he is unsure whether the game will yet be played at Leeds' Thorp Arch training base or their Elland Road ground.

And the academy chief says the condition of the respective pitches, as the game is set to be in January, will be a contributing factor in the decision.

"We're not quite sure yet [if it will be at Thorp Arch or Elland Road].

"It looks like it's going to be in January, so we have to look at how the pitches are holding out.

"And maybe think about where we might get a decent crowd, but we'll make those decisions in the next week or so", Hart added.

Liverpool Under-21s are struggling in the Under-21 Premier League Division One this season and sit rock bottom of the table. Last night they lost 3-2 away at fierce rivals Manchester United.

Leeds though, who are in the U21 Professional Development League 2, lost at home to Crewe Alexandra, 2-0, earlier this week.
