Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has declared that Jack Butland will not leave the club, amidst reported interest from Liverpool.

Butland, who signed a new deal in March, has become Stoke’s number one goalkeeper this season, following Asmir Begovic’s move to Chelsea in the summer.

The 22-year-old has been in good form for the Potters in the current campaign, keeping five clean sheets in 14 Premier League games.

The England international also helped his side to win a penalty shootout against Chelsea in a League Cup encounter in late October.

Butland’s impressive displays between the sticks aroused Liverpool’s interest, while their Merseyside rivals Everton were also linked with the custodian.

However, Hughes insisted that there is no chance of Butland leaving the Britannia Stadium.

"Jack's going nowhere", the manager was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"People are aware of him – and they have been for a long time."

Butland, who joined Stoke from Birmingham City in 2013, is contracted to the club until 2019.

The shot-stopper has thus far earned three senior caps for England.
