Queens Park Rangers have opened talks with former Chelsea and Leeds United striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink over becoming the club’s new manager, according to the BBC.

The 43-year-old is currently managing League One side Burton Albion, having won League Two with the Brewers last season.

QPR, who made an official approach to Burton for Hasselbaink, are currently in negotiations with the Dutchman.

The Championship club have been under the stewardship of interim manager Neil Warnock, following the sacking of Chris Ramsey in early November.

QPR, who edged out Hasselbaink’s former club Leeds United 1-0 last weekend, have endured a stuttering 2015/16 campaign.

The Loftus Road outfit are currently 12th in the Championship table with 23 points from 18 games, 15 behind leaders Brighton & Hove Albion; and appointing Hasselbaink could improve their chances of returning to the Premier League after just one season.

Prior to taking charge of Burton, Hasselbaink was the manager of Belgian side Royal Antwerp.
