Rangers manager Mark Warburton admits he is asking the club's board about financing deals for transfer targets and feels he would not be doing his job if he was not putting in such requests.

The Ibrox giants, who are in pole position to return to the top flight of Scottish football next season, are expected to be busy in the January transfer window, with one eye on the 2016/17 campaign.

Warburton is pressing the board for his targets and to make money available to land them; he believes that if he does not ask for signings to be funded then he will not get them.

The Englishman told a press conference: "Our job is to go and ask. Good managers, good coaches, good recruitment heads always go to the board and ask.

"If you don't ask you don't get", he continued.
