Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham is confident that manager Mark Warburton will stay at Ibrox amidst serious interest from other clubs, including English Championship outfit Fulham, and says the boss admits he could not ask the players to commit if he himself was not willing to.

Foderingham, who was signed by Warburton following his release from Swindon Town, insists the manager assured the squad ahead of today’s training session that he will be staying at Ibrox.

The 24-year-old believes that Warburton wants to see out the project that he has committed to and if he leaves the players in the middle of it, it would affect his credibility.

Warburton has also quashed rumours linking himself with a move away from Glasgow and insisted that he is absolutely committed to the Gers.

Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, ahead of the clash against Raith, Foderingham said: “Yes [I believe he will stay]. I mean he spoke to us this morning.

“He’s here to stay and wants to see out the project.

“He can’t ask us to commit, to come here, if he’s not going to stay.

“So it was good for him to say that.”

Foderingham also hailed the 53-year-old’s impact on his game since his arrival at Ibrox. The 24-year-old insists that Warburton is not afraid to do what is needed to get the best out of his players.

“Brilliant [the impact Warburton has had on me]. I mean obviously from the moment I signed he’s given me a lot of confidence.

“He had a lot of nice things to say.

“Obviously, he gives you praise when you need it, if you need a kick up the backside, he’s not afraid to do that.

“So he has been brilliant.”

Foderingham believes that the growing speculation and interest from various clubs is a testament to the good work the manager and his team-mates are doing.

“When you are doing well, there is going to be speculation.

“All we believe in is what the gaffer says to us and he has been open and honest and said to us that he wants to stay here.

“It means we are doing our job on the pitch and he’s doing his job as a manager.

“And the speculation is testament to his [good] job as a manager.”

Warburton’s side travel to Stark’s Park to face fifth placed side Raith on Saturday. The Gers will be looking to widen the gap between themselves and second placed Hibernian.
