Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has brushed off talk about losing the services of Liam Bridcutt in the winter transfer window, claiming he knows where to find a similar player.

Bridcutt is on loan from Sunderland at Leeds until the new year, with the Whites having an agreement to extend the deal until the end of the season if all parties are happy.

But there has recently been a suggestion that Bridcutt's former club Brighton are looking to complete a permanent deal for the midfielder in January, something which would see Leeds lose the midfielder.

Evans does not want to see Bridcutt depart, but is not losing sleep over the eventuality as he believes he knows where to pick up a replacement.

Asked about talk Brighton want Bridcutt, Evans told a press conference: "No [Brighton’s interest doesn’t concern me] because I know where there’s another Bridcutt [smiles].

"Listen, media and agents get together and suddenly you have two and two making one hundred and seven. That's what happens these days.

"I've always said we have a commitment on all sides for Liam to be extended and should something permanent change that then we have to respect that", the Scot continued.

"But it's not just Liam Bridcutt who made us good on Saturday [in the win over Hull] and it's not just Liam that would be the person who could do that role."

Evans will be looking for another big performance from Bridcutt this coming weekend when he takes his Leeds side south to face Charlton Athletic.
