Inter Milan could choose to terminate the contract of Serbian defender and former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic.

The former Red Devil joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer in 2014 after spending seven-and-a-half seasons at Old Trafford, but things have not gone according to plan in Italy for the veteran defender.

He has been struggling with form and fitness since joining the club and is yet to play any football this season after undergoing surgery for a hernia earlier this year.

Vidic is expected to return to action in January, but it has been suggested that Roberto Mancini has no plans to involve him and according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, Vidic’s stay at Inter could be coming to an end.

The Nerazzurri are postponing a decision until January, but it has been claimed that the club could choose to terminate his contract, which would make him a free agent during the winter transfer window.

Vidic’s contract with the club ends in 2017, but Inter feel they are not going to earn too much of a fee if he is made available on the transfer market because of his age and injury history.

The 34-year-old has made 28 apperances for Inter and it remains to be seen whether any top club will be interested in taking a gamble on him in January if the veteran defender becomes a free agent.
