Rangers assistant manager David Weir expects a tough encounter against Saturday’s opponents Morton and has asked his side to be wary of the threat they possess.

Jim Duffy’s side are unbeaten in their last five league encounters and have only lost one of their last seven matches in all competitions, with the loss coming against Scottish Premiership side St. Johnstone in the quarter-final of the Scottish League Cup.

Mark Warburton’s men enjoy an even impressive record than Morton in recent matches, winning three of their last four games with a 4-0 scoreline and have only registered one defeat in the last ten encounters in all competitions.

The Gers have opened a three-point gap at the top of the Scottish Championship and will be looking to widen the gap.

The 45-year-old believes that the 4-0 scoreline in September’s clash against Morton at Cappielow Park didn’t reflect how good Duffy’s side were on that day.

Speaking in an interview with the club’s official website, Weir said: “Three 4-0 wins in the last four games is pleasing, but it doesn’t mean that the next one is going to be the same.

“Morton won’t be an easy game and having looked back on our previous game and their recent games you can see they’re a good side, the scoreline possibly flattered us in September.”

Weir feels that the Tons have some good players in their ranks and they deserve to be where they currently are in the league.

“They are where they are in the league because they deserve it; they have some good players, some good young players and some energy.

“Jim Duffy is a good experienced manager and he has got them working and well organised and they will make it very difficult for us.”
