Celtic boss Ronny Deila feels that his side may have made club history by beating St Johnstone today, clocking up their tenth win in a game which has come straight after a European match.

The Bhoys were in Europa League action on Thursday night against Fenerbahce in Turkey, a game which ended 1-1, and today visited St Johnstone and won 3-0.

The Scottish champions took the lead in the Premiership fixture when Nadir Ciftci struck in the 35th minute.

Dedryck Boyata doubled Celtic's lead in the 49th minute before Ciftci got his second of the game in the 67th minute to make it 3-0.

Deila, whose men have a four-point lead at the top of the table over Aberdeen and still have a game in hand, feels his side have shown something special by continuing to win after playing in Europe.

"It was very good. St Johnstone are a very good football team and one of the best in Scotland", he said via his club's site.

"They had been on a good run of games and it had only been two-and-a-half days since we last played in Europe. We won 3-0 and you can’t expect more."

And Deila feels his Celtic side may have made history with their run of wins after European games.

"This is the 10th time we have come home from Europe this year and we won 10 times.

"I don’t know if we have done that in the club’s history.

"It’s also tougher after the Europa League as you play on Thursday instead of Tuesday or Wednesday, and hopefully we don’t have to do that next year."

Celtic will be unable to add to the run this season however after they were knocked out of the Champions League by Malmo, who ended up fifth in the Swedish top flight this term, in the playoff round.

Meanwhile, they exited the Europa League in the group stage, home and away losses to Molde, who finished sixth in the Norwegian top flight, being crucial.
