Tottenham Hotspur have directly contacted Barcelona striker Sandro Ramirez in recent days and have offered a contract over a move to north London in January, according to Catalan daily Sport.

Barcelona are ready to sell the player in the winter transfer window and Tottenham, who have a long standing interest in Ramirez, are looking to seize the opportunity to sign him next month.

The club have directly contacted the 20-year-old forward to discuss personal terms and are waiting for the player to provide his green signal before they place an offer on Barcelona’s table in the next few days.

However, the challenge lies in reaching an agreement with Barcelona. While Tottenham have the money to pay his release clause of €12m, the club are in no mood to entertain the Catalan giants’ request to include a repurchase clause in the contract.

Spurs want to buy Ramirez without the risk of later losing him and are pushing to sign the player on their own terms, without the complications of the repurchase option.
