Lazio are keen to snap up former Liverpool defender Daniel Agger from Brondby, according to Italian daily Il Messaggero.

The 31-year-old, who joined the Reds from Brondby in 2006, returned to his boyhood club in 2014 after spending eight years at Anfield.

The Danish international was deemed surplus to requirements by then Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who bought Dejan Lovren from Southampton to replace Agger, at a cost of £20m; Liverpool raised around £3m from selling Agger.

Italian side Lazio have expressed their desire to bring the centre-back to Serie A, believing he can still cut it at the top level.

However, the Biancocelesti may find it difficult to lure Agger away from Brondby in spite of the defender’s present contract with the Danish club being set to expire in the summer, as he is enjoying life with his boyhood side.
