Former Arsenal midfielder Luis Boa Morte, who has been undertaking scouting duties for Arsene Wenger, has lavished praise on FC Porto defensive midfielder Ruben Neves, who has been extensively scouted by the Gunners for the last few months.

The young defensive midfielder has been attracting attention with some eye catching performances for the Portuguese giants this season and the club are aware that the interest in only growing.




Arsenal have been on his trail for months and Boa Morte has scouted the 18-year-old for the Gunners a number of times this season. He is of the opinion that Neves is a star in the making.

The former Portugal international has pointed out that Neves has grown in stature this season and has all the attributes needed in a quality midfielder to make it at the top level of the game.
 


Boa Morte told Portuguese sports daily O Jogo: “Ruben Neves has grown a lot.

“He is a player with enormous potential and we must remember that he is only 18.

"He is technically good and can read the game well.

"Porto have a player of great qualify amongst them.

“[Porto manager Julen] Lopetegui is working with him every day and he knows best.”

Arsenal may well be keen to sign the defensive midfielder in January, but Porto are in no mood to sell one of their bright young talents in the middle of the season.

The Gunners are expected to scout Neves further and could make a move for him in the summer.
