Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has admitted he does not feel Jurgen Klopp's men will finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.

The Reds are aiming to finish in the top four to bring Champions League football back to Anfield next season and put Klopp in a good position to attract stars in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool have even been mooted as potential title challengers this term in some quarters, something Carragher wasted no time in dismissing, despite the chaotic nature of the top flight.

And in the process the former Reds defender revealed he does not expect to see Klopp's men finish in the top four.

Speaking as a pundit on Sky Sports after Liverpool beat Sunderland 1-0 on Wednesday night, Carragher said: "This Liverpool squad isn't good enough to challenge for the title.

"To be honest, I don't think they will get top four", he added.

Liverpool's win at Sunderland has pushed them up to seventh in the table, level on points with sixth placed Manchester United.

The Reds could qualify for the Champions League even if they do not finish in the top four, if they can win the Europa League.

Klopp takes his side back to his homeland for Liverpool's last 32 tie, which is against Bundesliga outfit Augsburg.
