Rangers manager Mark Warburton has warned new signing Harry Forrester that he is not guaranteed a spot in the team.

The winger joined the Scottish giants on a six-month deal for an undisclosed fee from Doncaster Rovers on 31st December.

But Forrester could not be involved in Rangers’ 6-0 rout of Dumbarton on Saturday, owing to the fact that his international clearance is still due to arrive.

And Warburton, whose side have now recorded back-to-back victories since their 2-1 loss to Falkirk on 19th December, insisted that Forrester needs to fight and work hard in order to break into Rangers’ starting line-up.

“Harry knows he has to work his way into the team – there are no gimmes for anyone”, the manager explained to Rangers TV.

“But he knows how we work; he is a technically gifted player who knows he has to bring something different to the team and I have no doubts he can do that.”

Rangers are currently atop the Scottish Championship with 47 points from 19 games, three clear of second-placed Falkirk, who have played a game more.

The Gers will next face Cowdenbeath in a Scottish Cup encounter at Ibrox Stadium on Sunday, and Forrester may make his Rangers debut in that game.
