Leeds United have now completed the paperwork relating to extending Liam Bridcutt's loan until the end of the season, it has been claimed.

Bridcutt's loan deal from Sunderland expired at the start of this week, with the side's 1-1 draw against MK Dons on Saturday being his final game.

But Leeds have been working hard to extend it until the summer and according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the deal is now over the line.

Bridcutt had been clear about his desire to remain with Leeds for the season, while he also opened the door to a permanent move away from the Stadium of Light.

The midfielder has been a key man under Leeds boss Steve Evans, making eight appearances for the club so far.

His presence in the team has also coincided with an impressive run of form for Leeds, who have moved to within just nine points of the playoff places.

Bridcutt had been linked with Cardiff, Reading and Brighton, but has been happy to stay at Leeds.
