Fenerbahce are planning a meeting with Liverpool to try to extend Lazar Markovic's loan deal for a further season, according to Turkish sports daily Fanatik.

The Serbian international, who was deemed surplus to requirements by former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, joined Fenerbahce on a season-long loan deal in the summer.

Markovic has managed to make his mark at Fenerbahce, with the winger making a total of 13 appearances for the Yellow Canaries, scoring once and setting up two goals.

As a result, the Turkish giants want the 21-year-old to remain at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium until the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

Markovic joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2014 and made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Reds last season, scoring three times and providing an assist.

The youngster, whose present deal with Liverpool runs until 2019, also has 21 caps and three goals for Serbia to his name.

While Markovic’s present employers are currently just one spot off top spot in the Turkish league, Liverpool are struggling in the Premier League and are currently eighth in the standings.
