Nigel Adkins wants Sheffield United to just concentrate on their game, rather than think too much about Manchester United’s perceived fragility.

The Blades will be travelling to Old Trafford tomorrow for their FA Cup third round game against Manchester United and they are in a reasonably confident mood ahead of their big match.

Sheffield United have proven themselves to be a tricky cup opponent in the last few seasons and made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup and the League Cup in the last two years respectively.

Many feel the Blades could cause another upset at Old Trafford tomorrow, especially with Manchester United winning just one game in all competitions since late November.

However, Adkins wants his boys to concentrate on their performance rather than Manchester United’s perceived fragility. He wants his team to be at their top of their game and look to enjoy the occasion of playing at Old Trafford.

When asked whether the Blades can play on the Red Devils’ current fragility, Adkins told BBC Radio Sheffield: “Manchester United are not fragile.

“We need to just concentrate on ourselves and know that when we will go there, we will be presented with massive challenges.

“We need to go there and enjoy the whole occasion and do what we want to do.

“Defensively we need to be at the top of our game, but we need a bit of fortune as well, everyone knows that.

"We need to give ourselves the opportunity to get the result during the course of the game.”

Sheffield United had to beat Worcester City and Oldham Athletic in the previous rounds to book their date with Manchester United tomorrow.
