Simon Mignolet is set to sign a new contract with Liverpool after reaching an agreement on a fresh deal at Anfield.

The Belgian has come in for criticism for his performances at points this season and current Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been widely linked with moving to sign another custodian.

Mignolet was even dropped by Klopp's predecessor at Anfield, Brendan Rodgers, but quickly restored to the side after his deputy picked up an injury.

Now the shot-stopper is set to sign a new deal, according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, as the terms on a contract have been agreed.

Mignolet will put pen to paper on a deal running until the summer of 2021 at Anfield.

Klopp has consistently stressed that he is pleased with the Belgian being between the sticks at Liverpool and a new contract for the goalkeeper will be a big vote of confidence for Mignolet.

It remains to be seen if Klopp does look to bring in another goalkeeper to provide competition for Mignolet at some point, or continues to place his trust firmly in the former Sunderland man.
