Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Carroll is hoping to win tonight’s clash against Leicester City and put the second placed side under pressure.

The White Hart Lane outfit sit four points behind Claudio Ranieri’s high flying Leicester City, and a win will help them close the gap to one point.

The two sides have also been drawn together in the FA Cup and faced each other on Sunday at White Hart Lane, which resulted in a 2-2 draw.

Carroll has featured regularly this term under Mauricio Pochettino, making sixteen appearances and scoring two goals. The 23-year-old midfielder has featured in five of Spurs’ last seven fixtures in all competitions.

The 23-year-old understands the importance of tonight’s game against the Foxes, who sit in second place in the league table, and is hopeful of putting Ranieri’s side under pressure with a win.

Speaking in an interview with the club’s website, Carroll said: “It’s obviously a big game tonight – Leicester are above us at the moment but hopefully we can get the three points and put them under a bit of pressure.

“They’ve got some good players, their forwards are handy, they’ve got some quick wingers and some strong boys up top, but regardless of whether both managers decide to keep it the same or change things around from the weekend, we’ll look over it and see how we can stop them.

Pochettino’s side sit in fourth place in the league table, six points behind leaders Arsenal and four points behind tonight’s opponents.

Spurs are scheduled to play the Foxes for a third time within a fortnight, when they travel to the King Power Stadium for their FA Cup replay.
