West Brom have slapped in a bid for SCO Angers captain Cheikh N'Doye, who is also being followed by Aston Villa and Derby County, according to French sports daily L'Equipe.

The defensive midfielder joined Angers from US Creteil last summer and was appointed skipper of the club, which is a testament to his importance for the club.

However, his impressive performances for the Ligue 1 outfit have prompted interest from clubs across the English channel and it has been suggested that Villa and Derby County are plotting to take him to England this month.

But Premier League outfit West Brom have been the early movers in the transfer saga and according to French sports daily L’Equipe they have already placed an offer of around €10m on Angers’ table for N’Doye’s signature.

The club are keen to keep the player away from the English clutches, but it has been suggested that they might struggle to hold on to their skipper, if he makes up his mind about leaving during the January transfer window.
