Ligue 1 outfits Bastia and Lille are interested in roping in Newcastle United forward Emmanuel Riviere during the January transfer window.

The Frenchman joined the Magpies from Monaco in the summer of 2014, but his stint on Tyneside has largely been disappointing, with only three goals coming from 28 appearances.

And things turned for the worse after he suffered a knee injury last summer, which has forced him to miss half of the current season. He made a comeback to the Under-21 team with a goal against Everton last night.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Bastia and Lille are considering making offers for the striker during the January transfer window, as they look to shore up their attacking reserves.

With a goal on his return to Under-21 action, Riviere is expected to play for the senior team soon and it remains to be seen whether Steve McClaren decides to deplete his attacking resources without signing a replacement.
