Serie A side Napoli are interested in signing Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko, but it is unlikely that the 26-year-old will be on the move in the current transfer window.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, Napoli are on Sissoko's tail and are hoping to strengthen their squad by taking him to Italy.

But the midfielder is reluctant to move before the end of the season with making sure he books a spot in the France squad for Euro 2016 his key concern.

And a mid-season move could scupper those ambitions as he would need to adapt to the game in Italy.

Newcastle also look likely to price Napoli out of any move for the Frenchman, who is under contract at St. James' Park until the summer of 2019.

Indeed, the Magpies are claimed to be looking for around €35m for Sissoko, a sum which would be too rich for Napoli to stomach.

Napoli currently sit top of Serie A, four points clear of second placed Inter after 20 games. The Azzurri ran out 3-1 winners at home against Sassuolo yesterday.
