Leeds United are showing interest in Chievo Verona defender Fabrizio Cacciatore, but could face competition from fellow English Championship outfit QPR.

The 29-year-old full-back is a product of Sampdoria's youth academy and Leeds supremo Massimo Cellino is well aware of his talents as the defender has plied his trade in his homeland throughout his career.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Cellino paid close attention to Cacciatore when Chievo Verona met Empoli on Sunday and Leeds will send scouts to take in his performance this coming weekend, when Lazio provide the opposition at the Stadio Olimpico.

However, QPR are also claimed to be keeping watch on the situation surrounding Cacciatore and could provide Leeds with competition for his signature.

Leeds may be in search of defensive reinforcements due to the impending departure of Sam Byram, with the right-back, who can operate further forward, set to join West Ham.

So far this season Cacciatore has made 15 appearances in Serie A for Chievo Verona and has nailed down a spot in the side's defence.

The 29-year-old, while primarily a right-back, is also able to operate as a left-back, something which would hand Leeds boss Steve Evans increased flexibility if he arrived at Elland Road.
