Fiorentina are rapidly closing on a deal for West Ham forward Mauro Zarate and are now locked in talks with the Hammers over the exact composition of the transfer.

La Viola are keen to snap up the Argentine this month and feel with Serie A experience he would be a good addition and boost to their bid to finish in the top three and qualify for the Champions League.

Zarate is happy to join Fiorentina and according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, West Ham are happy for him to leave, so much so that they are now ironing out the final details with the Serie A side.

Fiorentina are now considering whether to buy Zarate this month for £1.5m or instead take him on loan until the end of the season with an obligation to buy in June for the same amount.

Zarate has slipped down the pecking order at West Ham and the Hammers are prepared for him to depart.
