Manchester United have not held a meeting with Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola over taking over at Old Trafford, the Red Devils have insisted.

It has been claimed that Manchester United officials recently met with Guardiola in a hotel in Paris as the English side attempt to lure him to Old Trafford.

However, according to the Associated Press, Manchester United have made clear that they did not meet with Guardiola.

The Red Devils have increasingly been linked with the Spanish boss since he announced his intention to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the current season to take over a club in the Premier League.

Manchester City have though been claimed to be the leading contenders to snap up Guardiola, with a number of former Barcelona officials at the Etihad Stadium.
