Out-of-favour Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji has joined Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen on loan until the end of the season.

The Senegal international joined the Blues from French club Nantes last summer and he found it close to impossible to break into the first eleven, despite Chelsea’s league form this season.

With just a minute of football under his belt this season, the defender has been looking to leave the club this month and he has found a temporary home at Werder Bremen.

The Bundesliga outfit confirmed earlier this week that they were in talks with Chelsea to sign Djilobodji on loan and the defender completed a medical with Werder Bremen earlier this morning, before finalising the details of the move.

The Senegal international is set to start training with his new team-mates later today, in the hope of starting a fresh chapter in his career.

The 27-year-old will be hoping that at Werder Bremen he gets the opportunities he needs to show his true quality in the latter half of the season.

Djilobodji made 184 appearances for Nantes before moving to Chelsea last summer.
