West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan has revealed that the club are working on a ‘complicated’ deal to bring in a new striker this month.

The Hammers are currently sixth in the Premier League table and have already brought in Sam Byram from Leeds United this month to bolster Slaven Bilic’s squad for the latter half of the season.

West Ham also allowed forward Mauro Zarate to complete a move to Italy with Fiorentina earlier this week and are now in the market to find a replacement for the departed Argentine.

Sullivan revealed that the club are working on a deal to bring in a new forward this month, but admits that the deal is complicated and there is chance that it might not come off.

The West Ham co-chairman told the club’s official website: “We may look to bring another forward in.

“We’re working on a very complicated deal at the moment, which may or may not come off, so we will have to see how that progresses.”

Sullivan also said that despite Byram’s arrival, the club had no plans to spend this month and are happy to leave the squad in their current state.

“We have always said we didn’t plan to do any business in this window so if nothing more materialises we will be more than happy with our squad.”

The West Ham co-chairman also hinted towards a forward signing when he said that the club are looking to bring in a new striker from a ‘very strange league’ earlier this week.
