West Ham United want to take Mathieu Debuchy from Arsenal following the serious injury suffered by Carl Jenkinson.

Debuchy had appeared set to join Premier League strugglers Aston Villa on loan, but Jenkinson's injury has changed the picture and his switch to Villa Park may no longer be a foregone conclusion.

Indeed, Jenkinson's knee injury, suffered in West Ham's weekend draw with Manchester City, has put West Ham into the mix for Debuchy.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the Hammers are interested in now taking Debuchy from Arsenal to fill the gap.

And moving to Upton Park is an attractive prospect for Debuchy due to West Ham's lofty league position.
