Leicester City have moved into pole position for the signature of Sampdoria forward Eder, who has also been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan.

The 29-year-old striker has been in red hot form for Sampdoria this season and already has 12 Serie A goals in his bag, but there is speculation that he could be leaving the club this month.

Inter have been linked with a move for the Italian striker for months, and there has been speculation that the Nerazzurri are the top contenders to land the Sampdoria man during the January transfer window.

However, it seems Leicester City have moved into pole position for the signature of the player after his representatives met the Premier League club’s officials to discuss the terms of an agreement yesterday.

According to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, the Foxes have made a contract offer worth €2.5m per season, but Inter are not willing to pay more than €2m to the Sampdoria striker.

While either of the clubs are yet to reach an agreement over fees with Sampdoria, convincing the player about a move is believed to be their main focus at the moment.

Eder joined Sampdoria from AC Cesena in 2012 and has bagged 49 goals in 135 appearances thus far.

He has a contract until 2020 with Sampdoria.
